Schedule checks
Run monitors at intervals or set times, and understand delayed and missed checks.
A schedule runs a monitor’s saved Steps automatically and stores the outcome in History. Successful checks add readings you can explore in Charts.
Before enabling a schedule, save your workflow and run Check now once to confirm it works. See Your first monitor if you haven’t collected a reading yet.
Enable a schedule
- Select a monitor and open Schedule.
- Turn on Schedule enabled.
- Choose Every… or At… and set the timing as described below.
- Review Preview, then click Save in the monitor header.
New monitors start with scheduling disabled. The preview reflects your edits, including unsaved changes; enabling or changing a schedule takes effect only after Save. Save also applies pending changes to Steps and the monitor name.
After the next check finishes, open History to confirm its outcome and readings. See Review results to inspect failures or explore readings in Charts.
Choose when to check
Every…: repeat at an interval
Choose an Interval, such as Every 30 minutes, or use Custom interval to enter a positive whole number of minutes, hours, or days.
Expand Limit days and hours to choose Every day, Weekdays, or Selected days. Turn on Limit hours to set From and Until times. The end must be later than the start on the same day; overnight windows aren’t supported.
For example, choose Every 30 minutes, Weekdays, and hours from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM for regular daytime checks.
The first check becomes due after one interval, subject to your day and hour limits. An hourly interval does not necessarily fall on the hour. Use At… when specific clock times matter.
At…: check at specific times
Choose the days and set a Time. Use Add time for additional checks on those days.
For example, select Weekdays and add 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM for two checks each weekday.
Times use your Mac’s current time zone, shown in Preview. Choose At… for the same local time each day; Every 24 hours measures elapsed time and can shift on the clock when daylight saving time changes.
Keep checks running
Keep NI must be running, your Mac awake, and the selected Chrome profile connected. Closing Keep NI’s main window is fine. Quitting the app stops checks, and a schedule does not wake your Mac or launch the app.
Two options in Settings → General can help:
- Keep Mac awake prevents automatic idle sleep while Keep NI runs. The display can turn off. Closing the lid, choosing Sleep, or a low battery can still put the Mac to sleep.
- Start at login launches Keep NI in the menu bar when you log in. If macOS requires approval, use Open Login Items Settings to allow it. Chrome still needs to be running and connected.
Both options are off by default.
Understand delayed and missed checks
If another check is running or Chrome is disconnected, due checks wait in the queue. They resume automatically when the app and browser are ready. Waiting alone does not create a failed entry in History.
Keep NI keeps at most one waiting check per monitor, in addition to any running check. Several due times can therefore produce a single check. A queued check may start after your selected hours have ended.
After sleep or downtime, missed intervals combine into one attempt within the allowed hours. At… schedules catch up to the latest missed time today and skip unprocessed times from previous days. Checks already queued survive an app restart. Readings reflect the page when the check actually runs; they cannot reconstruct earlier values.
If the app shows Retry scheduling, review the storage error and retry. If a monitor shows Retry saving results, that action saves the completed result without running the check again.
Change or stop a schedule
Edit the timing, or turn off Schedule enabled, then click Save. Saving changed timing or disabling a schedule clears its waiting check. A check already running may finish.
Use Stop to cancel a running check. This leaves the schedule enabled and does not remove a waiting check. To stop future checks too, disable the schedule and save.
Scheduled checks use the latest saved Steps. Unsaved workflow edits do not interrupt scheduling, and saving edits does not change a check already in progress.
